The smoothie also contains frozen banana and honey because, well, both are awesome in smoothies and big kitchen staples of mine.Īnd if I didn’t have enough almond goodness in the smoothie, I threw a few whole natural almonds on top for good measure. I pretty much created this smoothie by pulling out everything almond in my kitchen: almond milk, almond butter, almond extract, and of course, vanilla almond protein powder. What can I say, I really enjoy smoothies! Plus I usually drink them A.) En route to the gym where I’m about to sweat my butt off, or B.) At home with a sweatshirt and slippers on near one of my vents blowing out warm air…. After all, it’s not all that cold in California. Yeah yeah, I know that most people probably don’t drink smoothies in the dead of winter… but this girl here does! I don’t drink them as often as I do in warmer months, but I still get my smoothie fill a couple times a week nowadays. You may be thinking, A smoothie recipe in January?! Vanilla almond sounded like a fun flavor to play around with, and today’s recipe was the very first thing I made with it. Usually I just stick with a French vanilla protein powder, but a new flavor caught my eye: You’ll also get a dose of healthy fats because we’re using a whole cup of nuts to make a batch. I picked up about a gazillion Quest and Pure bars, electrolyte drink tablets to try, and some new vanilla whey protein powder. Can You Make Vanilla Almond Milk at Home 1 cup raw almonds 4 cups filtered water 1 tsp vanilla extract Sweetener of your choice to taste (if desired). Almond milk made from scratch is creamy & flavorful, whereas store-bought almond milk can tend to be watery and tasteless. ![]() It’ll be the first weekend I’m home in a month, and I’m planning on relaxing, running some errands, getting a few workouts in and watching some football.Įarlier this week I made a trip to The Vitamin Shoppe to get some goodies.
